June is fast approaching and that means 2023 is nearly at its half way point – can you believe it! But while this may be a shock to the system, it does mean that summer is also on its way (there is some hope through the persistent rain showers, we promise). To get you through, we’ve put together a stellar line up for June that is guaranteed to inspire, inform and get your creative juices flowing. And of course, don’t fret, there will be a free snack plus a tequila and tonic waiting for you upon arrival.

At June’s Nicer Tuesdays, we’ll also see the return of our Art Market, with a group of our favourite independent makers selling their work. This will be the perfect opportunity to get that birthday present you nearly forgot about, or even a little something for yourself. Nothing hits like a bit of retail, especially when you can bury your guilt with the knowledge that you’re supporting a creative at the same time!

Taking to the stage will be Wieden+Kennedy to discuss its utterly strange yet brilliant egg-filled ad for Inuit QuickBooks, the advocacy organisation Where are the Black Designers? will talk us through exactly how it has built such a vital resource and Stephy Fung will be sitting down with our editor-in-chief Matt Alagiah to tell us how she’s made it to the top of the digital fashion world.

The event will take place on 6 June with doors opening at 6pm. As this is an 18+ event, please bring ID with you to the venue. If you are in need of disability access, please make yourself known to a member of the EartH team on the evening or email hello@nicertuesdays.com so we can arrange assistance. Carry on reading to find out more about our incredible panel of speakers.

When it comes to the digital fashion world, few do it better than the masterful Stephy Fung. Widely known for her incredibly unique clothing collections in the digital sphere, Stephy has also broken down boundaries between what’s real and online, showing how her fashion pieces can be brought into our daily lives. Stephy’s also a keen educator and Twitch user, and she spends a great deal of time demystifying the digital fashion world, showing her (many!) dedicated followers how they can find their space within such a new and unique industry. She even explains how they can find a job through developing such skills. At June’s Nicer Tuesdays, you can expect much of the same, as Stephy will be sitting down with It’s Nice That’s Matt Alagiah to answer our burning questions, as well as some of your own.

In the 2019 AIGA Design Census, it was reported that three per cent of designers are Black. It’s this systemic lack of representation and diversity throughout the industry that the non-profit design advocacy organisation Where are the Black Designers? was built to counter. The organisation is one that aims to decolonise through education, and “exists to heal, support, amplify and make space for the entire spectrum of Black creativity”. It does this through events, and using its platforms to highlight the work of Black designers both currently working and those from history. At Nicer Tuesdays, we’ll be hearing from co-founder and marketing Mitzi Okou and creative partnerships director Roshannah Bagley about how such an important initiative is built and maintained.

The advertising world can be known for getting a bit repetitive, with the same old tricks and techniques being repeatedly rehashed. Well, that is unless the team at Wieden+Kennedy have anything to do with it. In a recent advert for the accounting software Intuit Quickbooks, W+K created a scene in which a waitress at a diner loses track of her finances, descending into a truly surreal, egg-infested pandemonium with chickens to boot (you really have to see it to believe it). Creative directors Lucas Reis and Charlie Lanus will be walking us through how they came up with such a wildcard idea, and how they managed to get the client on board. Expect truly eggcellent stuff (sorry, we couldn’t resist!).
